Top 5 Reasons to Drink Water to help you write

Top 5 Reasons to Drink Water to help you write

My favorite writing tool is Water.  Yes you heard me correctly.  I share this important tool with my Author Toolbox ™ students.  I state the top 5 reasons to drink water to help you write and be more productive during your writing days.  So grab your favorite writing tools and prepare a big pitcher of water so that you can just keep pouring yourself a Big glass of water throughout the day.

Water is an important writing tool

Water is an important writing tool

1- Your Body and Brain needs water. Our brains depend on water to function properly. Brain cells require water for your brain cells to be efficient. When you are dehydrated it  can impair short-term memory function and the recall of long-term memory. Do you ever feel fatigue and have a headache, it may be the sign of dehydration.  Do you ever have writers block?  It could be that you don’t have writers block you just haven’t given your brain what it needs to function properly.

  • Transports nutrients and oxygen into cells
  • Moisturizes the air in lungs
  • Helps with metabolism
  • Protects our vital organ
  • Helps our organs to absorb nutrients better
  • Regulates body temperature
  • Detoxifies
  • Protects and moisturizes our joints
  • Muscle consists of 75% water
  • Brain consists of 90% of water
  • Bone consists of 22% of water
  • Blood consists of 83% water

2- Helps you Wake up.  Throughout the night that you sleep  your body is loosing water.  So many folks head for the kitchen and grab caffeinated coffee.  However did you know that caffeine is a diuretics that causes your body to produce urine and doesn’t help you keep water in your body.  The caffeine may temporarily ‘wake’ you up, however caffeine is a diuretic and has a host of harmful things that it does to the body.  This beverage will not help hydrate you, in actually will do the opposite.   Studies have shown for every cup of coffee you drink you need to drink a big glass of water to offset it.If you really want to wake up in the morning and fuel your body throughout the day to stay awake, make sure to drink water.   Always have a glass of water with you as you sit at your desk.  How many hours do you sit in front of your computer without drinking?   Add a lemon or lime and a cucumber slice to your water for added benefits.  You can also add a drop of Therapeutic grade essential oil like lemon or lime and will provide even more benefits to your water.  One benefit if improving your concentration.  Just smelling the essential oil will allow your brain to focus and as writers we know how much we need to do that.

3- Water helps you control calories and help you loose weight.   Most people mistake hunger for the indication to eat more, whereas in actual fact, they may be dehydrated. So before you have your meal, grab a glass of water. Look up some of the beverages you consume and see how much sugar and fat is in them.  Studies have show that sugar and high-fat  has the same  effect on the brain that smoking, alcohol and cocaine does. Even though we associate significant health hazards in taking drugs like cocaine and morphine, high-fat and  high-sugar foods may present even more of a danger because they are in so many beverages and foods people consume and highly addictive.
Knowledge is a critical tool to help you make better choices so that you live a long healthy life and you live long enough to see your writing legacy help other people.

4- Support your Immune System so you don’t get sick.  Drinking plenty of water helps fight against flu and other ailments like kidney stones and heart attack. Drinking water will improve your immune system.

5- Helps your mood so that  you can be a Happy and Healthy You.   Even mild dehydration can alter a person’s mood, energy level, anxiety, tension and ability to think clearly.  Your body and mind are now supported with the best writing tool, which makes you happy so I raise my  glass of water to your glass of water……  CHEERS and happy writing.

Virtual Author Writer Circle

Virtual Author Writer Circle is a complementary tool I created to support my writing and book goals.  I wanted to surround myself with other people doing what I was doing and provide that extra “writing mojo energy” needed to keep focused on my writing goals. In turn this group  also has provides a great tool for  author/writers to surround themselves with other writers and it has grown with many amazing writing peeps from all over the country and around the world.

I also create a Virtual Author Writing Day where we devote specific times during that day to write for  90 minutes and then call into the tele-conference line to share with other writers, ask questions, book and writing brainstorm.
This day was created as a complementary tool for students to stay focused on their writing goals  taking the Author Toolbox 30 Day Transformational Challenge and 6 month Author Toolbox Solutions program.  However I also give out FREE passes to other author and writers that want to join in this amazing group of writing energy.

If this Virtual Author Writing Circle Facebook group interests you please contact me and let me know what your writing goals are to see if you are a match for the Virtual Author Writing Circle.

We are having Virtual Author Writing Day this Saturday April 12th at 9am.
At the kick off of the day I will be doing a LIVE Demo of an amazing writing tool that has changed the way I write.  It helped me so much writing my books.   I would like to share this amazing author tool that is now is in my writing toolbelt daily.    Sign up to the FREE Live webinar where I will SHOW you how I use Scriverner writing tool.

April is an EPIC month to be an Author

April is an EPIC month to be an Author

I am excited for this month of April as so many amazing things are happening in my own Author Journey as well as my SOLOpreneur Author/Writer  clients journey to authorship. I am happy to announce since writing several books in my ebook series “Healthy Business, Healthy You Toolbox”, this is the ebook that will go live first in the series “Vision Boards Made Easy for the SOLOpreneur“. If you want to be part of the book launch and get Email notifications, please sign up here . I also created a “Live with Laura” Facebook group and Page so feel free to join there to help support me.

VisionBoardMadeEasySolopreneur

1st E-book in the Series

I have been busy getting all the other pieces and parts that go together after the book is actually written.  My author/writer clients have been enjoying seeing the process LIVE as each piece and part unfolds.  I am happy to inspire them by showing them all the “how to’s” and let them see this is an attainable goal for them too.  Many of my author clients tell me the writing part was easy for them, whereas the publishing, marketing, advertising, list building, etc is the part that makes their hands sweat.  For me this is the easy part and the writing was the hard part for me, its getting easier with practice and educating myself to have the best tools which has made it easier. One of my goals when teaching my  clients, is  to give them the BEST tools to make the process of all the things that come afterwards EASY.

If I get to work with an author from the beginning when they are still writing their book, I tell them they need to work on their marketing plan NOW and not wait until their book is finished.  This is one of those Author TIPS that I hope you are reading and having an aha moment and giving you this VALUABLE author advice now.  Trust me it makes all the difference.

I am also working this month on my Print Book Goals and am taking a 30 Day Kindle to Print challenge. This is going to be great to finally get to see my BIG book in actual print that so many of my clients have wanted for so long.  Many of my clients lost their computers and businesses in Superstorm Sandy the hurricane that devastated New Jersey and New York communities.  I was teaching the last class of the  30 Day Transformational Challenge course which was online and by telephone and the day the storm hit.  I offered several more live classes since Sandy however many of my Sandy Survivors still don’t have the funds to replace their computer, so having a print version of this book will really be a great tool for them.  I am hoping to continue to fund raise  and raise the money needed to be able to gift a copy to a Sandy Survivor.

This month I also start to teach another group of authors/writers in the  Author Toolbox 30 Day Transformational ChallengeSo many of my clients wanted an authors only class so when I give examples I’m speaking to them.  I love these groups of writers/authors that want their message to get out into the world and make a difference in the lives of others.  My heart sings when I get to work with them.  I can’t wait to show them the powerful tools that made such a big difference in my life and also in the way that I approach my author/writing SOLOpreneur journey.

This is also my Birthday month.  As many of you know I don’t share my actual birth date on social media as to me this is a breach in your online security and I teach my clients the reasons.  However, I love what my sister has done and made it her birthday month.  Her’s is easy to say as she calls it Deb-tober.  So not sure how to make it sounds cool.  If you have ideas leave a comment .  So for now I will just call it Laura’s Birthday Month.  I will be doing some fun things, gifts to YOU this month too, and some other live online FREE events to celebrate so stay tune. I encourage you to Make a WISH, wish anything you want.  Pretend  it’s YOUR birthday and you can wish for anything at all, no restrictions….. Dream Crazy and Big and don’t worry about coloring it all in.
make-a-wish

So my WISH  to you is Health, Wealth and Happiness this month as we celebrate Spring full of new beginnings, new sprouts of ideas, and new journeys that will be EPIC!!!!!!

Scrivener is my favorite writing tool

Scrivener is my favorite writing tool

Scrivener is a powerful content-generation tool for writers that allows you to concentrate on composing and structuring long and difficult documents. While it gives you complete control of the formatting, its focus is on helping you get to the end of that first draft easily.

When I found Scrivener it changed my writing experience for the better. It was a game changer for me.
I can’t say enough good things about Scrivener. It helped me write my books in record time.  It saved me time and energy, as I didn’t have to scroll up and down like I had to do in MS Word to find what chapter I was working, where I left off, what section was edited and what sections I still need to fix.

Software for writers of all kinds. Outline. Edit. Storyboard. Write.

Here is an example of what MS Word  side bar thumbnail feature looks like.
That is the best you have in Word to keep track of your document or manuscript when writing.

Here is an example of the side bar in Scrivener in a book I am working on to help Authors.
As you can see this gives me access to any chapter I am writing about.
It also puts my research in folders all in the same file so you don’t have to search for all the supporting documents when writing your book.
Don’t worry all of your research pages don’t print with your document or manuscript, unless you want to then you can print that section out separately.
It does so much MORE but this is one example of what I mean when I say GAME changer for a writer.

This software is also great for high school and college students, so I included the education link below as well.
